FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2015 MEETING
We enjoyed one of the best Programs that I have experienced in my eight years of Rotary Club membership. Colorado Springs,  Rotarian, Tom Tudor, President of the Board of Directors – Society of the Honor Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – provided a riveting presentation with slides of Arlington National Cemetery and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where he was a Tomb Guard, (Badge # 78), in the mid-1960’s. We learned things about: the history of Arlington, the “birth” of the Tomb Guards, the selection and training process, and so much of the symbolism involved in the Rituals at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Mike Forney for setting up the program and thank you Winnie for introducing Tom.
We recognized and sang “Happy Birthday” to our Rotary Club members with May Birthdays:  Marion Kahn, Jim Steinberg, Ellen Kendall, Michael Schlichtman, Paul Hebert, Dan Callahan, Joan Ihrig and Julie Taulman.
Thought for the Day, was delivered by Dan Hagney, with a number of quotes from world class cyclists. Thank you, Dan.
We need Thought for the Day, volunteers for the remainder of the month of May.  Please sign-up at Volunteer Spot at the Club’s web-site.
Lynaia South and Dillon Fulcher served as our Greeters. Lynaia also introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians. Everyone was glad to see Greg Stetman at the meeting. Thank you, Lynaia and Dillon.
Tara reminded us of our upcoming Rotarians at Work projects on May 16, 21, 30 and 2015, and circulated sign-up sheets.
Jackie talked about the upcoming Ski Town Golf Classic, June 12-13, 2015.
Gillian announced our Flower Barrel delivery, 5:00 pm, Rodeo Grounds, Tuesday, June 9, 2015.
Gillian also announced that we have assembled a nice Steamboat Get-A-Way Weekend Gift Basket to donate for a fund-raiser for Past District Governor, Julie Phares’ Longs Peak Rotary Club in Estes Park, CO.
We do need to assemble a Steamboat Gift Basket for the upcoming District 5440 Conference in Fort Collins, CO., June 18-20, 2015.
