ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Barn Dance is this Saturday!!  Wear dancing boots, western gear,  bring family and friends and,  of course, money to buy more raffle tickets!    If you are planning to be there and have, by some crazy oversight, forgotten to sign up to help, go right now to Volunteer Spot  http://vols.pt/H7uDTD   and see what our awesome committee needs to make this another perfectly run annual event!   More thanks to Carol Parish and Steve Sehnert and committee and sponsors to follow!

Dictionary Delivery – Cam Boyd announced it is time to sign up for dictionary deliveries to 3rd graders around Routt County.  Cam passed around sign up sheets.  This is a really short and fun service project.   Seeing the enthusiasm from the 3rd graders is just plain heart warming!   Let Cam know if you didn’t see sign up sheet.   Usually two Rotarians per school and you decide together when you can go (and call school to make sure)  Also, Cam has a really great script prepared so that you can do a top notch job with your delivery and interaction with the kids.  Thank you, Cam for your years of service on this project!

Nominating Process for 2016-17 Officers and Directors:  Jim Moylan reminded members to self-apply or encourage others to apply through the printed applications available at our sign-in table or on-line.

Flower Barrel Pick upKathy Elliott reminded us of the Flower Barrel Pick-up on Tuesday Sept. 29th.   Meet at rodeo grounds at 5:00 with trucks, trailers, helping hands.   Smokehouse picnic dinner will follow afterwards.    Family friendly event!

STEAMBOAT MINUTE:  Bobby Davis, Northwest Mutual - “helps people make good decisions with their money."    Kathy Elliott,  Head of Rental Marketing for Christy Sports and Door 2 Door by Christy Sports.   Need a sport rental, all seasons, you know who to call!

PROGRAM:  Annual Visit from District 5440 Governor.  Our 2015-16 District Governor, Ken Small’s visit was chocked full.  First a reception Monday night at Mike Forney’s with our Board of Directors, (thank you Mike & Janet for hosting us.)  Then. an early morning meeting with the Ski Town USA Rotary Club, followed by a Steamboat tour with Mike Forney (including a stop at our Rotary built elementary school playgrounds.)  Next a tour of Rotary Park and Peace Pavilion (thanks to Paula Black for providing her usual rich history), then to speak with our Board (our opportunity to brag) and finally speaking at our noon meeting.   Ken reviewed the status of several Rotary initiatives, including an optimistic picture of Polio Plus with only two countries remaining to bring us to our goal of a Polio free world!    He also spoke of the current projected changes in the Rotary International structure (less constricting, more open and flexible.  More Steamboat like?)   He also invited us to this year’s District Conference in Jackson, WY.  More on that in the future!  Thank you Ken for being with us and for your admirable Rotary record and service to our district!

Good News: Thanks to John Centner for doing Good News!  So special with his District Conference yellow tote bag!

Program Next Week:  No Noon Meeting.  See you at Barn Dance and Flower Barrel Pick-up and Picnic!

Respectfully submitted,
Ellen Kendall, Club President
