Exchange Student ProgramJulie Taulman announced we have four great candidates to send on a year long exchange.  We have enough host families to enable us to sponsor two incoming students – which means we can send out two (Tess Ritchie and Margaret Lichtenfels) but to send out the other two students, we need to find two other clubs in our district who are willing to sponsor them by hosting exchange students in their club.   Please spread the word and ask anyone you may know in other clubs in our district.

PROGRAM:  Gillian Morris introduced Anne Barbier and Nicole DeCrette from the Steamboat MakerSpace,  a program from Make Education, which encourages exploring, tinkering and creating in a space set aside and “tooled up” for that purpose. Tools include 3D printers, 3D cardboard goggles for virtual travel, and anything that can be made into something.   This is a unique national initiative, which has a very good start in the Library Media Center of Steamboat High School.  The new MakerSpace was designed and created by students and is open to all ages, as a drop-in space.   Anne and Nicole also brought an exhibit of several amazing products created by students.   It’s all about creating a culture of “I can” and we look forward to seeing this space and the program grow.  For more information, you can contact Anne or Nicole:  abarbier@ssk12.org   ndecrette@ssk12.org  And thanks Gillian for bringing us this very interesting program!
