FOR THOSE ROTARIANS WHO MISSED THE MEETING ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2014
This was a Historic Meeting. Over the 40 year life of our Club, only four members have been elevated to receive the Jack Morris Lifetime Achievement Award. On Tuesday, two more members of our Club achieved that status – Michael Roberts, (posthumously) and John Holloway. Accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Michael was Marne Roberts. John, his wife, Deb, mom, Sally and son, Trace were on hand to: “share the moment.”
We were also joined by Dixie Coyle, wife of past Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Chan Coyle, who added elegance and grace to our celebration. A large number of our past Club Presidents participated in this up-lifting Ceremony. We were certainly in “rarefied air,” today at: “The Grand.” Congratulations to John and Michael, an honor more than well deserved. Thank you to their families for sharing this very special time with us.
A special: “Thank you,” to Past President, Scott Marr for his advocacy to award the Jack Morrison Lifetime Achievement Awards to John and Michael at this time and orchestrating the entire presentation. Absolutely, “top drawer,” Scott, all the way. A big, big, “Thank you,” as well to Past President, Rod Hanna for crafting the beautiful Lifetime Achievement Awards given to Marne and John  to commemorate John and Michael’s [JM1] “lifetime” of accomplishments and [JM2] achievements to our Club and our community.
Greeters Alycia Cole and Steve Sehnert. Steve also introduced all our special guests and our visiting Rotarian. Thank you both. Please go to Volunteer Spot on the Club’s Web-site to sign up to be a Greeter, or E-mail Chris Stillwell.
Dave Wittlinger delivered our: Thought for the Day. Just substitute your own word for the word: “Mister” in the poem and you will get the message! Please sign up for Thought for the Day at Volunteer Spot on the Club’s Web-site, or E-mail Alice Klauzer.
Hector Lopez from Steamboat Springs High School was our Student of the Month, and his very impressive credentials demonstrated why he received this honor. Hector’s parents were there for this very special moment in Hector’s life. Congratulations again Hector and continue your great work.
Our Rotarian of the Month (November, 2014), was Coleman Cook. Coleman’s selection was an immediate and unanimous choice for his “picking up the sword” of our departed comrade and friend, Michael Roberts and making sure the Rotary Peace Pavilion would be in the shape Michael would have seen to it that it would be in, as we enter the Winter Season. Many thanks, again, Coleman for your dedication and leadership.
We also celebrated December Birthdays: Cheryl Krumrie, Jeff Swoyer, Glen Traylor, Ian Wagner, Kathy Elliott, Holly Rogers and Brian Harrington.
Ian Wagner gave his most interesting Classification Talk, with a slide show. Nicely done Ian – we very much enjoyed learning more about you – “Apu.”
