DAVID AHLQUIST - RAYMOND JAMES

CFP®, AIF®

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, WEALTH MANAGEMENT

Dedicated to helping his clients realize financial independence, David offers comprehensive, sophisticated guidance aimed at demystifying the complexities of the financial world. He understands the hard work clients put into cultivating their wealth, and not only works to preserve the fruits of their labor, but also helps them address the important questions of legacy planning.

From helping clients pursue their philanthropic aspirations, to establishing strategies that help ensure their loved ones are taken care of, David is proud to assist his clients with all of the essential matters money touches. At the end of each day, David sees his job as a catalyst for doing good, and even has specialized experience serving the philanthropic community. When it comes to describing his practice, David closely relates to the book “The Go-Giver,” by Bob Burg and John David Mann. “A good friend introduced me to this book and it validated the way I’ve been running my business for years. It describes almost exactly how our practice is run, particularly when it comes to their Five Laws of Stratospheric Success,” he says.

In spite of his passion for financial planning, David didn’t always envision himself as an advisor. “I originally wanted to be a college professor,” he explains. “I fell into the financial industry and found I could apply my natural teaching skills to help distill difficult and challenging concepts into clear and concise advice.” In addition to simplifying complex topics, David also relishes the opportunity of seeing well-crafted plans help change the lives of his clients for the better, impacting entire families and their legacies.

David, who holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, entered the financial world in 1999 when he accepted the role of private client investment consultant at Charles Schwab. He later earned the role of senior wealth management advisor at TIAA in Austin and Houston, Texas, where he worked for 15 years. In 2019, he proudly joined Raymond James.

An active member of his community, David is proud to volunteer his time to causes near and dear to his heart, including the Houston Food Bank and Star of Hope. In his free time, David is involved with the University of Texas System’s Chancellor’s Council, the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland and is part of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Advance Team.

David spent the majority of his childhood in the Washington, D.C. area, although he also spent time in New Mexico and Vienna, Austria, in his youth. He now makes his home in Houston, Texas, with his wife, Emily, and their three children, Sabra, Tressa and Dax. Away from work, David enjoys golfing, traveling, reading, eating delicious food and exercising (mostly as an excuse to eat more delicious food).

Raymond James is not affiliated with and does not endorse the opinions or services of Bob Burg, John David Mann or any organizations mentioned.
