The Fresh Start Committee will meet at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Houston City Club.  I invite you to attend and lend your talents to the rewarding work of this committee.

The Fresh Start Committee’s primary goal is to reduce the recidivism of criminal offenders through rehabilitation, pre-release education, job training and hands on help in rejoining society. The committee is also dedicated to providing information concerning the criminal justice system to fellow Rotarians and the public and private sectors.

Each year, the Fresh Start Committee positively touches the lives of countless inmates who are now tax-paying citizens, by conducting pre-release training based on personal experiences and conducting an annual Christmas program.

Committee members are encouraged to speak with offenders at least three times a year, which requires a minimum of one to two hour’s time. Members gain tremendous satisfaction by helping ex-offenders gain self-respect for the first time in their life, and positively impacting their re-entry into the community.
