The next time you're out surfing the net (and don't try and pretend you don't do it - we ALL are out there from time to time) take a minute and Google "Rotary at Work". Oh my heavens...I got 51 million hits, and while I know there aren't that many clubs, and there were a few duplicates, I went through the first 15 or 20 pages and was absolutely fascinated by what Rotary is doing in the world. Now, last week I covered how we can each make a difference through our service.

This note I want to focus on why I think that Rotary is, indeed, the best hope for the world. You can look at other service clubs and yes, they're doing some very good things, but NO ONE is out there with the wide ranging portfolio of projects and activities ALL focused on making our world - be it our home, our community, our country or the world in general - better place in which to live. Take a look at the headliners for the articles; look at what clubs in Africa, in Latin America, in Asia, clubs everywhere are doing.

We have water purification plants going in and we have vacant lots being cleaned so they can't be used as playgrounds for drug-dealers. We have polio shots being given in the far reaches of Afghanistan and we're putting a porch with ramp on the home of an invalid. You belong to an organization that believes it can make a difference in the lives of people. You ARE that organization and what you do makes a tremendous difference. Yes, I believe that the world can be a better place, yes, I believe I can play a part, and yes, I believe that the hope of the world rests with an organization, Rotary, that is committed to making those changes in the world.

In the Spirit of Rotary,

Dave
