Together, as a community, we brought in more than 103,000 pounds of food on Friday, November 18, for Food for families.

This is a record high, accomplished in a significantly depressed economy. We will have data regarding each site some time this week. We do know, without compiling the data, that our Wal-Mart site, with work orchestrated by Richard Diller and completed by a cast of thousands, was magnificent. Bob Sykes and his Wal-Mart team built 2200 bags of food that flew out the door on Friday. It was a dream come true.

The Cub Scouts were a hit and we just barely tapped their skills. By jointly planning next year, we can adapt to their skills. It is good training to be able to meet the public and "convince" them to support a most worthwhile effort. Like Rotary, Scouting has always been about service.

We have much to be thankful for and many blessings to count.
