I have been fortunate to be involved with the planning and preparation of our 25th Anniversary Banquet next week. During my meetings with other Rotarians, I have learned a great deal about our history and the legacy our club, through our members, have left for our community. As a club, we have been blessed with members that been diligent in preserving historical documents, photographs, and other memorabilia over the years, some of which will be seen at the banquet on February 11th.

As I sit and listen to stories from our distinguished members about places our club has met, fundraisers we have organized (golfing through hotel rooms?), and service projects we have completed, I cannot help but imagine how our work today will be remembered 25 years from now. It is obvious to me that our members in the past had fun in the projects and activities they were involved; because they worked at them together and because they knew our club was making an impact locally and globally. It is my prayer that we share that same spirit today.

If you are attending the banquet next Friday be ready to have a great time. It will be a chance to remember fellow Killeen Heights Rotarians that have left us for eternal rewards, and a chance to visit with great friends that have moved away from our area. As I looked over the confirmed guest list, I am excited to see some of the folks that will be joining us for the evening, many we have not seen in a while, but think about frequently. The night will be a great time to celebrate what makes the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights great; its members. Because we will be visited by Rotary dignitaries from Rotary International and District 5870, it is also a night to display our spirit for Service Above Self, in both our financial and personal effort giving.

I look forward to seeing you all again this Friday at our regular meeting place, and again next Friday evening for our 25th Anniversary Banquet. Thank you all again for your continued service or our club and community.

Have a fruitful week.

Yours in Rotary,

Steve Walden
