About Manuel Bressan

Manuel Bressan is a Political Affairs Officer in the United Nations Department of Political Affairs at the Headquarters in New York.

He has University and Master’s degrees in International Sciences and Diplomacy at the University of Gorizia (Italy), as well as a Master’s degree in Comparative Political at the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK).

Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with a main focus on South-Eastern European countries.

Since 2006, Mr. Bressan has worked on United Nations sanctions issues focusing both on both Central and West African countries (e.g. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia). He is currently the Secretary of the Sanctions Committee on Guinea-Bissau and leads the team in charge of managing United Nations sanctions lists and developing know-how related to the overall sanctioning systems.
