The School Board District 186
Mike Zimmers is a current member of the Springfield School Board. He will discuss a number of topics related to the operation of District 186 including the plan for capital improvements to a number of school facilities and the upcoming referendum regarding an increase in the local sales tax. Mike will be joined by Randy Hawkins, President of the Rochester School Board who will comment on their position regarding the referendum.
During his 37 year career in education, Mike was a teacher, principal and served in the central office supervising principals. He has been a member of the Springfield School Board for the last 6 years, including 3 years as President of the Board.
Mike has been an active member of the Springfield community. He has been a member of the United Way Education Vision Council for the past 3 years, is a member of the Race Unity Council and is President Elect of the Mac Murray College Alumni Board. Mike is a member of the Rotary Club of Springfield Sunrise and is their President Elect.
Randy is a graduate of EIU, a retired teacher and retired from the State of Illinois. He has been on the Rochester Board of Education for 21 years and haas served as President the last 10 years.
