At our June 21, 2021 club meeting, Springfield Rotary Foundation President Rod Buffington and Foundation Treasurer Bill Smith presented grant checks to two recipients of 2021 Springfield Rotary Foundation Grants. They presented the first grant check to Linda Lau of Beerlahai Roi Women's ministries (image to the left). This nonprofit organization serves as haven for homeless pregnant women and women with babies by providing free shelter, food, clothing, and mentoring. Our grant will support the purchase of healthy foods for these women and their babies.

The second grant check was presented to Captain Jeff Eddy of the Salvation Army (image to right). The Salvation Army in Springfield provides nearly 5,000 food orders for low-income families, as well as over 9,000 meals. Our grant will support the purchase of food for their food pantry, which is primarily used by people from the East side of Springfield.

Rod and Bill also presented a check to Adam Liesman (image on left), Vice President of Land of Lincoln Honor Flights. Each year our club donates some of the proceeds from our Flag Service Project to support the Honor Flights Program.

Rod gave special thanks to Bill Smith, Springfield Rotary Foundation Treasurer (image below), who has a done a superb organizing and tracking all of the grant applications and managing the financial resources for the grants during his six year tenure in this position. Club members gave him a rousing round of applause.
