On April 22, 1948 a group of local businessmen met to formulate a plan to bring the ideals of Rotary service and fellowship to their community of Fair Lawn.  Thirty-three men signed the original charter application to bring the principles of Rotary to Fair Lawn.  Through their dedication and hard work, the Rotary Club of Fair Lawn was officially recognized as a part of Rotary International on August 2, 1948.    During the organizational period, Past Rotary District Governor Walter Lindell and the then president of the Paterson Club, Filbert L. Rosenstein, guided this group through the early stages of Club formation cultivating what is now a vibrant and active Club serving the Fair Lawn Community.

The 33 Charter Members of the Rotary Club of Fair Lawn celebrated their dedication and hard work in bringing Rotary to Fair Lawn at the Charter Night Dinner on September 23, 1948.  The first President of this new Club was E.
