The Rotary Club of Port Lincoln has a considerable focus on youth, with a priority being local youth projects and needs.

Child Protection:
All Rotarians are devoted to the safety of the community members that they have dealings with, most particularly the children and youth in the Rotary programs that are provided for their benefit.

Rotary International has emphasized its commitment to protection of youth by adopting a 'Statement of Conduct for Working with Youth': -
"Rotary International strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary activities. To the best of their ability, Rotarians, Rotarians' spouses, and partners, and other volunteers must safeguard the children and young people they come into contact with and protect them from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse".

District 9500 has received Official Certification from Rotary International to enable continuation of the Youth Exchange Program.

The Club Protection Officer for the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln is Mr Greg Patterson.

  • The Rotary club of Port Lincoln has participated in Rotary Youth Exchange programme continuously for over 50 years
  • We have provided (and continue to provide) members who have worked tirelessly on the District 9500 Youth Exchange Committee for the benefit of all Rotary Exchange Students.
  • The Club organised and convened the 9500 District Youth Exchange Surf Weekend in March. The inbound exchange students enjoyed all Port Lincoln has to offer including swimming with Tuna and learning to Surf. We not only provided financial support for this event, but our members provided an extraordinary amount of in kind help as well.
The "Science Experience": The Club sponsors Students in years 8 and 9 to attend “The Science Experience” in Adelaide

Youth Projects undertaken in prior years by The Rotary Club of Port Lincoln:

University Students weekend in Port Lincoln: The Club hosted a group of 20 International University Students from Adelaide for a weekend. We worked closely with the Study Adelaide and the Gday SA organisation to give this group a fantastic Port Lincoln experience. These students, who were mainly from Asian countries, are studying in Adelaide away from their families and at the end of their year are quite homesick and lonely and this was an opportunity for us.

Operation Flinders: In prior years the Club contributed Financial Support ($1000) for Operation Flinders, a programme for disadvantaged youth.
