Last week we had a quick breakfast at the Arkaba hotel and then a lovely tour of the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) at Glenside. Building and shaping the South Australian film industry for more than 40 years, SAFC remains the most experienced screen agency in Australia. The SAFC’s primary focus is on partnering with filmmakers, production and post-production companies that can contribute to the growth of the industry, and ensuring South Australia remains an attractive location for the filming and production of world class content for film, television and online.
During the tour, Wolf Creek Series was commencing filming and we were all excited to meet Mr John Jarratt. John Jarratt (born 5 August 1952) is an Australian television and film actor, producer and director, who rose to fame through his work in the Australian New Wave. He is best known for portraying the main antagonist Mick Taylor in the Wolf Creek film series.
We had fun in the Foley Sound Effects room. Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass.
It was great to see the private theatre used for movie screenings as well as the mixing room where movies are edited. The SAFC is an amazing venue, beautiful architecture and the visit was enjoyed by all.
This week, District Governor Doug Layng and Lynne Layng will be our special guests, see you all then.
