Alberto "AJ" Stapleton was born and raised in Lima-Peru, South America. He migrated to Denver, Colorado in December of 1984. Married Nancy Stapleton in 1994 with whom he has 3 daughters. AJ Speaks and writes Spanish fluently. In 2000 AJ and family relocated to Highlands Ranch, Colorado where they currently reside, and are part of the community. He and his family are parishioners of St Mark Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch. AJ is an alumni of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Program and has served in the Inner City Health Center Board of Directors and the Denver Preschool Program Board of Advisors. His biggest passion in life is helping children and those in need. In 2008 AJ started recycling bikes, fixing them and then donating them to inner city Children in Colorado. In 2010 as a result of his charitable work and in response to God's call, he founded Project ReCycle a non-profit organization that provides bikes to the needy. They have distributed over 5000 bikes in 7 years to inner city children in the US and Africa. In 2012 he was awarded the Channel 7 Everyday Hero Award for his work in the community. In 2013 he received the Bike Denver Hero Award for his passion and commitment to the biking community. This year he was featured in Telemundo Denver “Unknown Heroes” who honor immigrants that have made a positive impact in our community. Alberto has a passion for sports, especially soccer. He was involved in the sport coaching several years for Real Colorado. He enjoys spending the summer camping and the winters skiing with his family.
