The Ken October 218, 2019
Attendance: Phil Michalowski
Split Club: Paul Chisolm
Fine Master: Mike Hetler
Invocation: Rick Graham
The Ken: Jeff Markarian
Donna began our meeting with the Pledge, no song and Rick Graham gave our invocation. Our guests today were good friend to Rotary Julie Stark – Waldron, Karen Battaglia, Linda Griffin’s sister and our guest speaker Walt Ludwig.
Donna was inquiring about the wine event grand committee meeting tonight at 5:30. Someone texted her and the word was out that they were meeting at the Delaware. We will have a meeting Monday 11/11. Brian Ahern will speak to us.
Donna asked for 2 of our newest members to come up and be sworn in as new Rotarians. Branden Blatz and Steve Blass. Welcome gentleman.
Joe Arcara won the split club and Tim Glor missed the Ace of Spades.
Mike Hettler took the floor for confessions. John Coogan missed last week because he was in FLA. They had a rainy day so they went to the Casino where he evidently did pretty well. Mike Ford had his in-laws in town for the Bills game. Mike bought a new car then was laid off again. Tim Glor visited his son Brian and their first child Ellen Margaret. Mike Hettler was in Italy. That reminded Tim that he too was in Europe. Mike fined anyone in the room who didn’t do anything special over the weekend.
Sue introduced Walt Ludwig to speak to us. Walt is the president and CEO of Kenmore Mercy Hospital.  We should all be very proud of our Hospital. Once again they won several awards. Beginning with the Magnet award for nursing excellence. KMH is the only recipient in the state to receive this. KMH received the Beacon Award for excellence in ICU for the third year in a row. Again, straight A’s from 2014-2019 in the Leapfrog Hospital safety grade. Also the highest patience experience in NYS. Walt is proud to be able to unveil a new $130 million electronic medical record system. This will transform all of our interactions with our Health care needs. Walt answered many questions we had for him. He was a friendly and informed speaker.
