Zoom video meeting

The Ken: Jeff Markarian

I hope this finds you all well and adjusted to our temporary living environment. Donna put together a zoom video meeting that went very well. 14 people attended and we were able to see everyone in their pajamas and with curlers in their hair, no make up and unshaven faces. Please remember, as a port of call for video conferencing, groom nose hairs. Most cameras on laptops zero right in.

All in all, this was a very productive meeting. First, Donna wished us all well and we all caught up with each other. Announcements. Student awards: We are not having them this year. Without us having a fundraiser, we will only be able to issue plaques and not the $750 grant. Larry was checking with our district and perhaps RI to see if there is anything we can tap into. But as of now, there is not.

Sred-It is postponed to the fall. Donna emailed the participants of this decision and they were all fine and will wait.

Holly has postponed our Wine Event until October or May 2021. TBD. We are partnering with Meals on Wheels for that event.

Meals on Wheels needs funding and help with delivery. Joe Arcara was able to find a website that he was able to send some money. Joe, please share that.

Mike Ford is doing a yeoman’s job adjusting our venue. It looks like we are good to meet at The Ken – Ton Commons in the Phillip Sheridan Building. George will cater our lunches or breakfasts. There is wi-fi there and it is very well lit. The goal is to meet on Wednesdays. Every other meeting will alter between lunch and breakfast. Breakfast will probably be 8:00. They are still working out the details. Dick is thinking about sending out another survey to get the memberships thoughts. I was instructed to put the toggle back on for registering for the meeting, so we get a better headcount for George. Please watch for that as we get back into the swing.

A discussion pursued on the quality of our speakers. It seems to have a direct relation on our attendance. Please make suggestions. There must be lists for this type of thing. Which reminds me. One of better speakers we have had was the guy selling the wind turbines. As it turns out he was a swindler and is facing jail time. Nevertheless.

Please join us for our next zoom meeting May 5 at 12:00 the invite and password ar:
