October 15th, 2015, was the last official District Governor visit.  It was completed with Horizon Sunrise Rotary of Grand Junction.  It has been exhilarating to witness firsthand the fantastic good the Rotary Clubs of District 5470 do in their communities and around the world.

It is through these clubs that needs such as literacy and education, economic development, peace and conflict resolution, maternal and child health, disease prevention, and clean water and sanitation are addressed.  Every club no matter its size wants to better their own community and communities around the world.  I am proud to be a part of a group of dedicated volunteers that have the desire to make the world a better place.

On October 3, some clubs in District 5470 were recognized at the Fall Forum for outstanding achievement.  These awards were presented to clubs that did amazing things during the 2014-2015 Rotary year.  A special Fall Forum edition of the District newsletter will acknowledge those clubs for their outstanding achievement.  Awards for outstanding achievement by clubs during the 2015-2016 year will be presented at the Rotary Roundup to be held in Grand Junction during June 17 & 18, 2016.

In the world of Rotary, November is Foundation Month.  Rotary International recognizes November as Foundation Month as a reminder to Rotarians worldwide to consider contributions to the Rotary Foundation.  We all know the good the Foundation can provide as well as the opportunity to collaborate with other clubs in the US and around the world to do good in the world.  During my club visit, I asked everyone that had not yet contributed to consider the possibility of a cup of coffee a week as a potential contribution.  One cup of coffee a week could make a huge difference in the life of a person you have not met.  Follow this link  to watch a short video of the good YOU can do with a sustainable project when you contribute to the Rotary Foundation.  When we give to the Rotary Foundation, it is just one way we can all Be A Gift To The World.
