November is Rotary Foundation Month. Established in 1917 with a donation of $26.50, The Rotary Foundation is dedicated to advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace. Through grants and other resources, Rotary members develop sustainable projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education, save mothers and children, and grow local economies.
The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. Named for the founder of Rotary, it was established in 1957 to show appreciation for and encourage substantial contributions to the educational and humanitarian work of The Rotary Foundation.
To honor the centennial of The Rotary Foundation and the 60th anniversary of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition, we are offering an incentive for members who wish to become Paul Harris Fellows or to advance to the next recognition level.
If you are not yet a Paul Harris Fellow, we will match every dollar you contribute with two Foundation Recognition Points (a recognition point is awarded for each dollar contributed to The Foundation by a club or individual and is transferrable to help others achieve Paul Harris recognition). For example, if your contributions to date total $400 and you make a one-time donation of $200, we will transfer 400 points to your account and you will become a Paul Harris Fellow!
If you are already a Paul Harris Fellow, we will match every dollar you contribute with one point. Thus, if you are currently a Paul Harris Fellow plus 1 and your contributions to date equal $2,500, we will match your one-time contribution of $250 with 250 points and you’ll become a Paul Harris Fellow plus 2!
Over the next few weeks, Foundation Chair Tom Nelson will be sending every member an email outlining their current Paul Harris level, donations to date and contribution needed when combined with Recognition Points to reach the first or next Paul Harris level.
This offer will run through the end of the current Rotary Year (June 30, 2017) so there will plenty of time to take advantage of this generous incentive.
