Rotary Youth Exchange

 
We will hold these interviews for high school kids from throughout our D5470 over the weekend of Dec. 5-7 in Grand Junction at the Marriott Courtyard and Residence Inns next to the GJT Airport.  We begin at 6 p.m. on Friday with Interview Team training from 7 to 9 p.m.  Saturday there is a quick training review and student interviews begin at 8:30 to 12 noon; teams will interview the parents of those kids they spoke with from 2-5 that afternoon.  There is a dinner for RYE committee members, YEOs, and other Rotarians who wish to come that evening.  Sunday morning is another round of interviews with a different group of kids from 8:30 to 12 noon after which we will have a quick pizza and salad lunch and then go through the decisions as to which students should go and what country they will go to.  We will finish up by 3 at the latest.

We need 40-50 Rotarians from throughout our district to make this happen.  Currently, there are three front range students sponsored by Minnequa,  Rampart Range, and North Colorado Springs Rotary Clubs who are vying for one of 26 spots for long term RYE this year.  We also have TWO students from front range Rotary Clubs currently abroad: Blake Runyan sponsored by Broadmoor District RC in Brazil and Arman Hudspeth sponsored by Pueblo West RC in Japan.

We need help getting the word out to your local high schools about this amazing opportunity.  What better way to learn first-hand how it all works than by being a part of an Interview Team at District Interviews, Dec. 5-7 in Grand Junction.  A!l of our inbounders from 20 countries as well as most of our Rebounders (kids who have been abroad this past year) will be there to convince our 40+ candidates they should come/go to their particular country.
