December 1 Meetings

At our Thursday lunch meeting, we were delighted to have Karen Ulijohn visit us to play some Christmas music. Our speaker was Roger Morgan, a man of many talents and pursuits.  A former Rotarian who cares deeply for the homeless and those in need, both here and in Africa and other under-developed areas.   He can build small, inexpensive houses for homeless.  Stan Nader hopes to find a way to get land in Lincoln for these homes.  Roger gave a stirring talk and engaged us all.

Frank Neves won the big pot, $290.  He graciously donated half back to the Club and sharing the remainder with everyone's buddy, Tony (Stix) Ballecera.  Also shown below is Harriett and Geri presenting large-print books to Gladding Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care.

At the Sunset meeting, we presented a blue badge to Matt Gardner.  Matt recently celebrated his 20th anniversary since joining a Charter Club in Los Angeles.  Our speaker was our own webmaster and social media guru Art Deardorff, giving us tips on publicity gained with facebook.  Also shown are picture of our members attending the Lincoln Firefighters Turkey Drive last week. The Firefighters met their goal of 500 turkeys collects.  Thanks to those who contributed.

A big THANK YOU to all who made our Blood Drive Friday a huge success. About 47 pints of whole blood, 10 units of Platelets, and 8 Double Red collections were donated - a record! We had over 60 Lincoln citizens come through the doors.  Thanks to Dan Johnson for his organization of this continuing event.  We are the best in the District.  Our next Blood Drives are January 10th (platelets only) and February 17th.

And, thanks to Dan for stepping up to be our President next year.

Don't forget the Christmas party Monday December 12th at the Woman’s Club at 6pm.  If you have not signed up, make sure and contact Claire and let her know if you are bringing Appetizer, Pasta/Tomatoes, Salad, Veggies or Desert.   The main dish will be ham.
