Safe Passage Project

The Rotary Foundation actively supports projects worldwide.  Many of the projects are requested by Rotarians and conducted by Rotarians through grants to individual clubs. For large projects, the Global Grant process allows individual clubs to support projects lead by other clubs. One such project supported by Lincoln Rotary is teh Safe Passage Project.

Steve Certa, Rotary District 7550 District Governor Elect for 2017-2018 from the Weymouth (MA) Rotary Club, made a presentation about the Safe Passage Project that provides support for children in Guatemala who live in a garbage dump. Very inspiring presentation about how one Rotarian woman made a big change for the affected people.

International projects for 2015-2016 Rotary year include: Jalisco School District Humane Education Alliance — $500 for development of an anti-violence education curriculum for schools in the Chapala region of Jalisco, Mexico. * Tepehua Maternal Health Clinic — $1,000 for equipment for the expansion of the health clinic at a community center in Chapala, Mexico * Rotary Int’l Polio Plus Campaign — $1,000 * Safe Passage Project in Guatemala City — $500 in a matching grant ($1,750 total) for development of a curriculum for a new accredited school for the children living in the city garbage dump. Prospective projects: * Solar lanterns for villages in remote regions of Ghana * Additional funding to the Rotary Int’l Polio Plus Campaign
