Neon Sign Rehab

Jude’s background goes back to 1972. He started learning to paint signs right after high school in Iowa. With a 2 year degree in Graphic Arts, he started  his sign business in 1976.

The winter of 1982-83 was so brutal, Jude and his wife, Monica started looking for warmer and sunnier  places. They looked at Phoenix and Tucson. Tucson won out.

They moved Labor Day weekend in 1983, one month before the flood. Jude worked for a short period for another sign company and then rented a small building on 9th street to open Cook & Co Sign Makers in February 1984. He is now on Tucson Blvd, just south of Broadway

Jude's company rehabilitates historic neon signs. He'll share with us the steps taken to restore these signs to their former glory. He'll also share with us Ignite Sign Art Museum's mission and its progress.
