JOY: brings well wishes from Clarice who is off recovering from surgery. She mentioned that she is meeting with Stuart Green from the City regarding finalising light posts and bike rack at the park

GUEST SPEAKER: Mike Watt

 

Phil Horner introduced Mike Ward. Mike is currently responsible for Walker Environmental portfolio. He was responsible for developing nine companies and new ventures over the past 25 years. He was a founding member of GNCC. He is a member of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce. He is a long term resident of St. Catharines, President of One Foundation for NHS, recent merger of all Niagara's Hospital Foundations. He is past chair of GNCC and is on the Boards of the YMCA of Niagara and Ontario Waste Management Association.

Mike gave us a brief overview of the company's past and present projects. Besides active quary work, the company is heavily involved in waste management as well as the creation of energy through waste. They profit from waste conversion by selling end products such as fertilizer and energy. A posssible tour of the Niagara Falls facilities is under consideration for a future meeting off site.

Jon thanked the speaker and offered up our club mug as a token of our appreciation.

. Janet happy to report that a 100 questions have been created so far for Trivia Night

. Ellen has walked the trail on the Walker dump site in Niagara Falls

. Jim, Ellen, Milica and Janet went to the skating show held at the Meridian Center; very enjoyable

. Gary and Sandi enjoyed a cruise to several Caribbean islands

. Bob and Liz are leaving for Vietnam for 5 weeks

. Eric has an offspring who turned 30

. Peter happy to be missing our meeting in two weeks to enjoy his first meal in his new abode

. Phil liked the fact that Tom Brady gave away his new truck to the player who caught the winning throw

. Gino put in 5 $ to promote his fund raising campaign

. Annette loves the Patriots

. Jon is working hard on quitting smoking

. Joy is happy that there is a company like Walkers that help minimise the levels of garbage created from the community
