ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Cathy Henry: promoting the Rotary Club of St. Catharines south club new fundraiser 'SPEAKERS CORNER' Save the date: Oct 2, 7 PM Ridley College, Guest speaker Joe Roberts; book signing and meet and greet to follow. Tickets are $20 students, $50 adults. Cathy also updated the club on the progress being made in Jamaica with the Trees that Feed Program. A team of volunteers are being recruited for a trip down there in the Fall.
2. Joy Flegg: read a 'thank you' note received from our Slapshot student, Mikayla Lafontaine
3. Linda Landry: read a 'thank you' note from our DG as a result of his visit to our club. She will also be away for the next couple of weeks.
4. Gino Marchionda: circulated a pledge sheet for the upcoming Cancer Ride. All donations are met with dry cleaning coupons for equal value.
5. A rep from the hotel dropped off invitations to all members to their upcoming 40th anniversary celebration. The Nitsopoulous family is inviting everyone to a cocktail social on Friday Sept 11th at the Holiday Inn on Ontario Street between 5 and 10pm; drinks and hors d'oeuvres included. Please sign up on line as an RSVP
6. Janet Allan: reported on Jim Cunningham's status. He would love visitors while in hospital. Call ahead in case there is an early release.
7. Gary Chard: reported same on Jim and reminded all to keep the Asplin family in their prayers. Cathy's health is failing and Jon is by her side. Gary will report to the club the whereabouts of the bridge we helped fund in the Rockway Glen area.

9. Fellowship announcement: Sept 23rd meeting is off site. Details from Gary Chard to follow with regards to the Bridge site; dinner to follow at Rockway Glen golf course; a sign up sheet is circulating.

President Linda introduced Dexter Benitez, Field Operations, Ontario Electronics Stewardship.
 
Dexter spoke of the successful recycling business with regards to clothing and electronics. The surtax paid on electronic items are collected by the government and used to fund this non profit operation. Bins of a variety of sizes and shapes are available for work sites, schools, businesses etc, with payment by the ton from all goods collected. Please call him for more details or visit his website at RecycleYourElectronics.ca
