President Linda Landry, from the Lakeshore Rotary welcomed members from 10 clubs.  Her club has organized the joint meeting.

President Linda introduced the Head Table, the Club Presidents and the Incoming Club Presidents.

Speaker:
Steve Ludzik, a former NHL hockey player, spoke about living with Parkinson’s Disease and the impact that this disease has on his life.  He has committed to raising funds in support of the Steve Ludzik Centre at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital.  Funds are raised through an annual golf tournament as well as a roast.  To date these events have raised over $600,000.  While the Centre is located at the hospital, it is funded strictly by donations.  Steve’s great sense of humour was in evidence during his presentation, recounting tales of his time as a hockey player.  He believes that his Parkinson’s was as a result of head injuries playing hockey.

Following his presentation, District Governor Kevin Crosby presented Steve with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his work in this area.

50/50 draw:  Our exchange student, Pia Zimmerman, won the draw.  Way to go!

Report from Rick Evans:
A very proud day to be a Rotarian and a member of the St. Catharines Rotary Club. We visited the school that we did a Global Grant through Rotary International and the Pato Branco Brazil club. The new Kitchen and Dental chair will service 150 students starting in May and 250 starting in September. The Jayne Evans Music Room was also revealed with the children singing to her on her arrival.
I send from them many thanks to the members of our Rotary District, Club, friends and family who made donations to this project.
The picture of Jayne taking a selfie with the children says it all.
Obrigado!
