Speaker:
Bob Gosselin introduced our own Ann Godfrey:

Ann, who is Director of Development and PR with Family and Children’s Services (FACS) told us about Child Abuse Prevention Month. She emphasized the importance of it being everyone’s responsibility to talk about child abuse. Mayor Sendzik had released a supportive video with the message of ‘breaking the silence on child abuse’. Ann had many questions from the floor which she handled professionally. An informative but disturbing topic – thank you Ann for your last-minute presentation.
Jim Denham warmly thanked the speaker.

Rotary Story:

President George then introduced Eva Ren:

Eva explained that she had been asked by Steve Tenyenhuis to tell us about her involvement with a Junior Team Canada trade mission to China, with Global Vision in August. Among 40 representatives, Eva represented the Niagara Region. For Rotarians interested in more about this, I can refer you to an excellent video at: http://www.globalvision.ca/jtc/
President George thanked Eva, and warmly commended her on her presentation. With poise like this at 17 years old as an example of our young people, we are in good hands in the future.

Liz Palmieri gave cudos to the volunteers associated with the reading program.
Lezlie Murch attended the District Conference, and also reminded us about the TV Auction sign-up sheet which will be on-line soon.
John Crossingham spoke about his experience with a flat car battery; and is looking for hosts for two girls from Australia who will be here between Dec 19 and Jan 19
Larry Kent had high praise for both Ann Godfrey and her last-minute presentation, and FACS itself for offering two programs – student bursaries and the summer camp.
John Travers asked for those interested in a curling bonspiel to be in touch with him or Dave Stevenson
April Feasby thanked Eva for a great presentation
Chris Bangham was grateful that the trade agreement with Europe is back on track,
and confirmed his commitment to Movember, in case Rotarians had not noticed the growth on his upper lip.
Mark handed back the basket with another thank you to members who had attended his mandolin concert.

Board meeting:
President George then had 3 more points from the board meeting this morning:
• Unless we are fully set up with host families, we will not be hosting an incoming exchange student this year.
• With the approval of the district we will have an outbound student
• The December 1st meeting is cancelled, that being the first day of the TV Auction

50/50:
Bob DeWolfe was unable to pull an ace -  the pot grows!
