Another beautiful weekend in New Hampshire. It doesn't get much better.
At last week's meeting we had two of our local elected officials speak to us about the state budget, legislation moving through Concord, and the functioning of the Legislature in general. Frank Sterling and Dick Ames were very enlightening and we're grateful they could take time from their busy schedules to visit with our Club. Our best wishes to them both as they work to help govern New Hampshire.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 7:30 am in the Dublin Community Church. The speaker will be Helfried ZrZavy, Technology Director at ConVal High School. Mr. Zrzavy will be speaking on the subject of Technology and Security. This talk will undoubtedly have many things of interest for all of us as we navigate our increasingly connected and on-line world. There are many dangers out there (just ask OPM) and Mr. Zrzavy is probably aware of all of them and may have tips we can use to protect ourselves and our privacy. Please make every effort to attend to hear this important speaker. Sue Copley has the Hat and Kevin McElhinney the Invocation.
At the next meeting the Club will vote on the disposition of Happy Dollars that have accumulated over the year. The amount is nearly $700 and in the past, this money has been donated to the Rotary Foundation. The Club vote will be to see if that is what we should do with the money this year, or if it should remain in the Club's general revenues for local purposes.
Gavel Night will be held on June 30, 2015, from 5-8 pm at the Edward MacDowell Lake picnic pavilion. Club members are asked to bring a salad/dessert and their own drinks. The Club will provide items to BBQ. Bring friends and family, and especially bring potential Club members. This will be the event at which the gavel will pass to Rob Harris, President-elect for the 2015-2016 Rotary Year. You don't want to miss this fun event.
