RID 7870 GSE Team heading to India

On January 20th at about 10:20 pm EST, the District 7870 Global Study Exchange (GSE) Team will take off from Logan Airport for Mysuru India. Heading up this adventurous group is Milford Rotarian Claudine Hessmer-Husainy. Accompanying her are Sarah Marchant, Nina Giannotti, Allison Morris, and Suzanne Delaney. As an all female team, they have dubbed themselves Claudine's Angels of Peace.
The team will be in India for three weeks, learning about the culture of Mysuru and the surrounding areas. Each member of the group will have the opportunity to learn about their respective professions in India. This includes city development (Sarah), international students (Nina), STEM education and innovation (Suzanne), and journalism (Allison). Mysuru (which recently changed its name from Mysore) is in the southwest of India and is known for its tourism and regal palaces. Incidentally, last year, Mysuru and Nashua officially became sister cities! That initiative was championed by State Rep. Latha Mangipudi.

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. GSE teams members are selected through a competitive application process. Save for the team leader, applicants cannot be Rotarians The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For three to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.
