Thanks to the efforts of Marie Grella, The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC, will be on display in Amherst July 19 — 23, 2018. The Milford Rotary Club is honored to support this tremendous event and collaborate with Marie to make it happen. This is will be a great event for Souhegan Valley residents and visitors!

Volunteers and Sponsors are needed to make this very involved undertaking a great success!

Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:

Set-up Crew

Task: Assist in setting up the wall, tents, etc.
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 15
Shift Length: Thursday, July 19th from 8:00-12:00 noon; 4 hours
Requirements: Able-bodied person 18 years old and over

Security Personnel

Task: Monitor activities at the event site, intercede as necessary if people appear to be acting inappropriately; no "policing action" on their own; eyes and ears for campus security and law enforcement
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 2
Shift Length: Around the clock shifts of either 2 or 4 hours (no more than 4 hours consecutively in one day)
Requirements: Respectful yet authoritative

Computer Team

Task: Operate a laptop computer that is used to look up veteran names and locations on The Wall using database software
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 2
Shift Length: 4 hours
Requirements: Somewhat computer literate

Information Booth

Task: Answer questions about the event, point out the available resources on-site (security, counseling, organizers, etc.), and share any available material about regional Veterans’ resources.
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 2
Shift Length: 4 hours
Requirements: Good hearing and eyesight; friendly

Visitor Escort

Task: Working with the Computer Team, help visitors locate a panel or a veteran's name, support people with difficulty walking
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 2
Shift Length: 4 hours
Requirements: Able-bodied, good hearing and eyesight; friendly

Counselors

Task: Provide emotional support to veterans and other visitors as necessary
No. of Volunteers / Shift: 2
Shift Length: 4 hours
Requirements: Compassionate
Other: Veteran or trained professional preferred
