George Schuurman wil speak to us about a new ministry in Hamilton, planned to serve the homeless.and marginalized.

Biography of our Guest Speaker
George Schuurman was born in Chatham Ontario and moved to Hamilton at age six.  He attended Calvin Christian School and Hamilton District Christian High School. George joined the Toronto Police Service in 1977 right out of high school at age 18 and was with the Service for 31 years, retiring from policing in 2008 at age 50. In September of 2008 he came on staff at Hope Bible Church in Oakville and currently serves as the Pastor of Recovery and Discipleship. The passion of his calling in ministry is to serve those on the margins including the addicted and marginalized. That passion has brought him back to a focus on Hamilton and the need in the inner city with respect to those issues.

George plans to create an Outreach Program in Hamilton regarding homeless and the marginalized in the inner city.  Unfortunately this has been put on hold for the time being due to COVID-19 but he is clearly able to share his own life story and previous experience as a police officer in downtown Toronto.

Please welcome George Schuurman to the Rotary Club of Hamilton AM!
