Please join us as we welcome guest speaker Martinus Geleynse formerly of Urbanicity. His topic is "Riding the Rustbelt: Bus tours to Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, and Buffalo"

Martinus Geleynse is the founder and Creative Director of Make Media, formerly known as urbanicity Omnimedia, an advertising agency and media distribution company in Hamilton, Ontario.

Having recently sold urbanicity Magazine and Hamilton's largest indoor billboard network, Martinus helps small and medium-sized businesses create, refine, and market their brands through conventional media and creative marketing campaigns. Such work has included crowdfunding over $100,000 for The Other Bird restaurant group, creating a city-wide burger festival called Novemburger, and directing communications for Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger's 2014 winning campaign.

Martinus also founded and ran the Hamilton 24-Hour Film Festival for 8 years, building it from a coffeehouse festival to the largest of its kind in Canada.

He was named Hamilton's Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2010 by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, and was selected as one of Hamilton-Burlington's Top 40 Under 40 in 2013 by BusinessLink. Martinus was also privileged to be one of the 2013 1Award winners - an award program sponsored by FirstOntario Credit Union that recognizes small businesses that demonstrate strong growth and continued growth potential.

Martinus hosted Cable 14's urbanicityTV television program for three seasons, and is a frequent speaker and lecturer on topics of advertising, communication, and media and culture. On a far more interesting note:

Martinus operates a series of urban bus tours that have brought over 200 Hamiltonians on educational tours to Buffalo, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland over the past three years. He lives downtown Hamilton with his beloved wife Nina, his daughter Zoeya.
