Actually it's NOT our final Bulletin, but it IS the last edition to be emailed to you. It's not that the Bulletin doesn't exist, but moving to the digital age, and in line with most media outlets and younger members' tastes, there is now no need for weekly email-outs or even weekly reminders. Like online news, the Bulletin is dynamic. It is updated continuously and not on a weekly cycle like a printed copy.

You may be aware that the Club's Bulletin is assembled from the club's website stories (listed under Menu: Activities>Club Events) which in turn are updated continuously, as and when information becomes available, (and when the travelling webmaster can get internet access). This means that in any given weekly cycle, the Bulletin news can change daily or even more frequently.

The most recent version of the Bulletin is ALWAYS available directly from the link on the Club's Home Page. And in addition, it, along with archived copies, can be viewed at the following permanent link address: <http://portal.clubrunner.ca/2901/Bulletins/2015> both of which you can access at any time convenient to you.

BOOKMARK THE LINK IN YOUR BROWSER NOW, BEFORE YOU FORGET, OR LOSE IT.

It's like using the App on your smart-phone/iPhone or tablet/iPad where you read your favourite magazine or newspaper - you look at it when you have the time and inclination. There is therefore no need for a regular weekly emailed copy of the Bulletin, nor are regular weekly reminders required. This avoids cluttering up your inbox unnecessarily, but more importantly you get the most recent information.

Many of our friends like to keep in touch with the Club's activities but don't necessarily want to read the Bulletin every week. They prefer instead, to read it when they have the time. We value their interest. Now they can do that and not worry about missing out on club news as not only is the latest Bulletin there, but the link provides easy access to back issues. Whenever you wish to view any Bulletin, and at your own convenience, simply go to the above link. <http://portal.clubrunner.ca/2901/Bulletins/2015> {For the internet savvy you may like to create a shortcut icon on your desktop that takes you there with one click}

There have been occasions in the past when, after the Bulletin has been emailed, later updates have been received which have missed the deadline. The new procedure ensures you get the best and most up to date news at the time of your choosing. As always, we will have a few 'hard copies' of the current Bulletin available at the registration desk for each meeting. We hope you welcome the change and convenience.

By the way, if you do happen to lose the above direct link to the Bulletin, you can retrieve it by browsing to the club's website <www.hydepark.rotaryclub.org.au> and under Menu Newsletters, click on Club Bulletin. There's also the direct link to the latest Bulletin on the Home Page. Why not try it now?

eBULLETIN - distribution. With the change over of webmaster, and the (nomadic !!!) activities of the incoming officer, it has been necessary to update the mode of distribution of the eBulletin to keep pace with the digital age and still provide members and friends with the best news-service possible. Current and back issues of the eBulletin are available at this web link:  http://portal.clubrunner.ca/2901/Bulletins/2015. To avoid getting obsolete version of the eBulletin, it will not be emailed every week. Instead, at your own convenience, access it via the above link.
Meeting: #1658
Date: 17 June, 2015
Speaker: Sandy Morey
Topic: Does Rotary Have a Role in Combating Terrorism?
Attendance: ~20. Guest: Alan Millhouse (Sandy Morey)
On Leave: Gordon Wilkinson 24 June, 8 July, 12 Aug-7 Oct; Margaret Blake 24 June, 12 Aug-16 Sep
Report: Guest speaker, our own member Sandy Morey, addressed [in his police uniform] the very relevant question of “whether Rotary has a role in preventing terrorism “, which in today’s context meant stopping the spread of ISIS.
He noted the prominence that the media gave to terrorism, whether through the hideous acts committed by ISIS or to acts by authorities, including our own Government through possible changes to citizenship laws .
While he showed maps of the Middle East and where ISIS had recently taken additional territory using its powerful weapons, his talk then moved to what could be done in Australia.
He had no doubt that Rotary, which of course meant each one of us, has a role in promoting a climate of acceptance and goodwill toward all people, regardless of race or creed, while also underlining the responsibilities of citizenship.
He also mentioned that in his role in the police force where he is in the community talking with Muslim leaders and that they in turn are emphasising to their Muslim followers the aspects of their faith that are contrary to the assertions made by ISIS.
After questions, Ian McIntyre thanked Sandy for helping us consider this complex and concerning issue.
Words of Wisdom
The wise old Mother Superior from county Tipperary was dying. The nuns gathered around her bed trying to make her comfortable. They gave her some warm milk to drink, but after a sip she refused it.
Then one nun took the glass back to the kitchen. Remembering a bottle of Jameson's whiskey received as a gift the previous Christmas, she opened and poured a generous amount into the
warm milk.
Back at Mother Superior's bed, she held the glass to her lips. Mother Superior drank a little, then a little more. Before they knew it, she had drunk the whole glass down to the last drop.
"Mother", the nuns pleaded, "Please give us some wisdom before you die".
She raised herself up in bed with a pious look on her face and said, "Don't sell that cow".
