The Rotary Clubs of Group 4 held a fund raiser for K9s for Warriors at Bellini’s Restaurant last Thursday, April 23.  There were 60 people who came to support this effort and listen to Marine Capt Jason Haag give an update on the organization.  He also told of how his canine, Axel, has impacted his life and given him back his family and his self respect.  Rotary joins him in his relentless commitment to end the epidemic of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Jason’s remarks followed the reading of an essay written by Maddy, a 17 year old Interactor from Westlake High School.  She wrote of the effects of PTSD on various family members and focused on the tragic reality that every 65 minutes a veteran with PTSD commits suicide.  It is a remarkable work and will be featured in the K9’s newsletter as well as local media.

After the presentations Jason answered questions and mingled with the guests.   It was a very successful event and brings us closer to our goal of 3 canines - $45,000.
