The correct spelling of this term has been long debated since the early 1960s. To our Club members it didn't matter, as Amy Stec, dietician/dietitian at Los Robles Hospital, gave a wonderful and informational program last Friday pointing out the long term benefits of a healthy eating lifestyle. An expert on dietetics, Amy (pictured here with our Club's legal practicianer/practitianer, Jon Morse) spoke highly of the popular Dietary Advances to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet as a proven way to lose weight and lower blood pressure. As the #1 diet based on US News and World Report, DASH focuses on 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks every day including colorful veggies, fresh fruits, more fish than red meat ("the fewer legs, the better"), low carbs and dairy, and nuts and seeds as snacks. Just makes sense, doesn't it? Thank you so much Amy for a great presentation and yes, we will forever remember your catch phrase..."Eat Food, Not Too Much and Mostly Plants"!

Also on tap last Friday was the induction of our newest member, Thor Challgren (pictured here with his wife, Erin, and daughter, Sarah)! Thor is a travel consultant and owns a travel agency called Cruise Planners located in Thousand Oaks. Hmm..maybe I'll go see him after April 15! Congratulations, Thor and welcome to the greatest charitable organization in the world, Rotary!

Finally, last picture shows our California Jazz and Wine Fest (CJWF) committee hard at work. Please be sure to stand up, help out and participate in our great fund raising event wherever you can!
