We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.
 
We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.
 
We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:
  • Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
  • Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
  • Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
  • Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
 
Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.
 
The Rotary Club of  Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Club, please note the Board has approved a new member proposed by John Masterson, Attorney Michael Martin to the club. Any member having comments should get back to me this week.

  2. Scholarship fundraiser was kicked off by Ron Polito last week, let Ron know if you are willing to contribute to his matching grant.
  3. Board members and new members please mark your calendars for the District Assembly (Oxnard) Pacifica High School Apr 02, 2016  7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  4. Tim Blackwell is hosting a Fundraising Cte meeting march 30 5.30 pm to hear progress on major fundraising planning, be there to help out and find out. Location is Insurance Dude office  2734 Johnson Drive #104 Ventura.
  5. Membership drive-remember your dominoes and add to the growing number of guests.
  6. If you have brought a guest in the last month or so, invite them back, keep them aware and cultivate their interest in the Club

  4. DEVELOP A CULTURE OF LEADERSHIP TO GROW INVOLVEMENT AND SHARE THE LOAD
  5. INCREASE COMMUNITY SERVICE FREQUENCY TO    HAVE FUN AND GROW MEMBERS
  6. FUNDING-DOUBLE POINSETTIA SALES, REVAMP BBQ TEAM THIS YEAR

Meeting March 17, 2016
Jeff Burgh led us in the Flag Salute.
 
President Bruce thanked Tom Swan for greeting and Joe Strohman for taking attendance.
 
Tim Blackwell told us that the raffle prize was a $50 gift card to Osabi Restaurant.
 
Husam Hishmeh gave our Inspirational Message.
 
Guests today was our speaker Lt. Cmdr. John Sokol. Guest of John Masterson was his niece Sarah Masterson. Guest of Judy Hoag was Tom Crozier. Guest of Juan Mendoza was his mother Raquel, Shelly Linda and Bertha. Guest of Ron Polito was Nala.
 
March Birthday's in attendance was Bill Crookston!
 
John Borneman led us in a song.
 
President Bruce presented Jason Ribibo with his blue badge.
 
Jordan Eller gave a Vocational Minute followed by the joke of the week given by Juan Mendoza.
 
Ron Polito let us know that we are going to give $25,000 for scholarships out of the Schwab account and the Foundation checking account had $7,000 in it that is also going to scholarships for a total of $32,000. Ron will put up matching funds of $2,500 if the club can raise $2,500 also. That will give us $37,000 for scholarships this year. Thank you for your generosity Ron!
 
Tom Swan reminded us about the City Center project which will be starting at 9:00 instead of 8:00.
 
Dave Anderson thanked the Finance Committee for their hard work and announced that there will be a brief Finance Committee meeting immediately after next weeks club meeting.
 
Husam Hishmeh invited all Avenues of Service and board members to attend the District Assembly from 7:30 - 12:30 on April 2nd. The assembly will be at Pacifica High School in Oxnard.
 
Andy Corliss spoke briefly about St Patricks day and what it means to him.
 
Midge conducted the raffle and our lucky winner was Bill Hicks!
