We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

   - Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

My memories of our club's growth
I remember a period -in the late seventies- when the membership of our Club was growing. I believe we were up to 80 members. During our meetings, the sliding wall that separates the Ventura Room from the Santa Paula Room was kept open in the middle. The buffet was served in the Ventura Room, so that we could meet in the Santa Paula Room. That worked out very well.

However, our members knew additional persons in the community who had expressed an interest in joining our Club. Several of us weighed the advantages and disadvantages of becoming larger. We agreed that if we became too large, the closeness of our inter-personal relations would suffer. We felt it would be better to create an additional Rotary Club. That would provide opportunity for more persons to enjoy the intimacy that we enjoyed, and to participate in the "Rotary Club Leadership" experience. However, at that time, we would not be allowed, by Rotary International, to create another club without the authorization of our "mother club" - The Ventura Rotary Club. Also, the new club would have to limit its membership to the east of the line of demarcation between the Ventura Club and the Rotary Club of Ventura-East.

Therefore, in 1978-79, when I was president of our Club, I and several other members of our Club's Board met with the Board of the Ventura Club. During our meeting, I said that it's harder to remember the names of members, the larger the club is. A member of the Ventura Club Board said: "I used to be a member of a Rotary Club, in Los Angeles, that had over 400 members. I remembered the name of every one of them." They denied our request. They told us we should grow bigger.

Subsequently, Rotary International changed the rules. After that, we created the Rotary Club of Ventura-South (4/29/83) and the Rotary Club of Ventura-Marina (3/29/85). For many years, our Club continued to have 75 - 80 members.
How will we double the size of Ventura-East???
46 = the number of active members
22 = the number of meetings left in Bruce's term
2 = If everyone invited just two guests/week
2,024 = the number of people who would be invited for the remainder of this Rotary Year.
506 = the number of visitors if 25% show up
50 = the number of new members is 10% join us.

Get busy and start inviting!
News from Rotary International
Interact clubs are making a positive difference in schools and communities around the world. Leaders of sponsor Rotary clubs and districts should make sure their Interact clubs get the recognition they deserve by verifying that they qualify for a Presidential Citation. First, ensure that the Interact club status is active in Rotary's database by checking the Listing of Club-Sponsored Organizations report in Rotary Club Central. If a sponsored club is not listed, submit the Interact Club Certification Form by 1 March. Then, verify by 15 April that your Interact clubs have qualified for the...

Rotary members, their families and friends can support Rotary’s work by bidding on antiques, artwork, jewelry, and collectibles through eBay Live Auctions events. Each month, Rotary will promote on its social media outlets a set of upcoming Live Auctions events, and eBay, the world’s largest auction website, will donate a portion of all sale proceeds from those events to Rotary. Live Auctions events enable buyers to participate in auctions across the United States -- held at such auction houses as Sotheby’s, Swann, and Freeman’s -- without leaving home. Under this proceeds-sharing...

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours. The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address. This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.
