Joe Strohman let us know that the essays are coming in from Buena and we will need people to help ready through them. The Foundation Board had 3 people who have expressed an interest in serving on the Foundation. The Foundation will be meeting tonight at Joe Strohman's office tonight at 5 and Morgan Stanley will be there to report on our funds.

In regard to membership, Joe Strohman has gone through his Outlook (address book) and has identified about 15 potential members.

Tom Swan introduced his guest Cecilia Johnson. Cecilia was our program awhile ago speaking about "Scholarship" bootcamps and is interested in joining the club and possibly doing some bootcamps at Buena in conjunction with our scholarship application period.

Rich Stewart read a letter from the Salvation Army thanking us for our help with Bell Ringing this past Christmas. We raised $159.16 for the day! If you are interested in helping with the homework club at Atlas School, please let Rich know.

Rotary Club of Ventura-East Elevator Speech
We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:
   - Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
   - Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
   - Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
   - Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of  Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.
How will we double the size of Ventura-East???
46 = the number of active members
22 = the number of meetings left in Bruce's term
2 = If everyone invited just two guests/week
2,024 = the number of people who would be invited for the remainder of this Rotary Year.
506 = the number of visitors if 25% show up
50 = the number of new members is 10% join us.

Get busy and start inviting!
News from Rotary International
Rotary members, their families and friends can support Rotary’s work by bidding on antiques, artwork, jewelry, and collectibles through eBay Live Auctions events. Each month, Rotary will promote on its social media outlets a set of upcoming Live Auctions events, and eBay, the world’s largest auction website, will donate a portion of all sale proceeds from those events to Rotary. Live Auctions events enable buyers to participate in auctions across the United States -- held at such auction houses as Sotheby’s, Swann, and Freeman’s -- without leaving home. Under this proceeds-sharing...

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours. The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address. This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.
