Ian proudly displays his First Place medal for being a part of the team to raise the most money for Polio eradication!

From Paso Robles to Monterey they rode.  Temperatures in Paso began at around 113 and at the finish line after dark in Monterey it has cooled to the mid-eighties.  Hot weather was not what anyone expected for this EPIC ride, but it didn't seem to slow anyone down.  Ian McCool rode with Team 23 and received a medal for being part of the team to collect the most donations and pledges for the polio campaign.  Overall, about $45,000 was raised to benefit Polio Plus, an amazing start to what is hoped will become a yearly event.

Ian attended the District Conference representing the Tehachapi Rotaract Club and Tehachapi Rotary.   We should be very proud of this young man and all he accomplished in a weekend.  Ian has been in THS interact, attended RYLA, received a $1000 college scholarship from our club and is now serving as the in-coming president of the Rotaract Club.  Our good work in raising money--selling the scooter over and over again--pays off when you see young people like Ian become a part of the Rotary family.
