William J. “Bill” Britton serves as the Visiting Interim CIO and Cybersecurity Center Director at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Britton is responsible for leading Cal Poly’s Information Technology cyber initiative into a nationally prominent center that includes educational, research, outreach and partnering activities. He is visiting from Parsons Corporation. At Parsons, He was Vice President for Cyber Strategy. In this role he was responsible for integrating the DoD and Intelligence Community Cyber Strategy and the Commercial Cyber Strategy. He most recently ran the Commercial Cyber Business Unit, working to integrate Cyber solutions into Critical Infrastructure. He has worked with SCADA, Industrial Controls and Networks elements responsible for everything from vulnerability assessments to remediation to advanced planning and cyber solutions.  He has worked on the Industry side with all the national agencies working in Cyber before it was called Cyber. He has been the Program Manager on the Industry side for programs like; DARPA Technical Integration Center (TIC), DARPA Security Information Division (SID), and has led the development of other Intelligence Community programs. Prior to that, he served 20 years in the United States Air Force as an electronic warfare officer and an intelligence officer. This is when he had his first exposure to the roots of Cyber working with the Electronic Combat, then later Information Warfare Center in supporting roles. He has been involved with R&D and technology insertion his entire career and has been on the forefront of developing new concepts in cyber security.
