The U.S. Antarctic Program, managed by the National Science Foundation, supports scientific research on the southern-most continent . . . research that cannot be done anywhere else on Earth. The Antarctic Support Contract (ASC), the primary logistical contractor for the US Antarctic Program, runs 3 permanent research stations, 2 research ships and multiple field camps. All cargo is shipped to/from Port Hueneme in cooperation with the US Military Sealift Command and the US Air Force. Please arrive on time, lunch will be served at 12:15 promptly and we will have an abbreviated meeting. Then, Steven Elson, PhD, Chief Executive Officer and Rotarian will be our host and presenter. Facility tours will follow, short ones for those that have to get back and longer for those that want a more complete circuit. Casa Pacifica meets kids and families at the most challenging times of their lives while helping them overcome some of the most difficult circumstances—abuse, neglect, emotional and behavioral issues and family crises. California's Marijuana Law and Ventura County

For adults over the age of 21 in California, it is now legal to use, possess and share cannabis, as well as grow it at home. They can carry up to one ounce of flowers or eight grams of concentrate without fear of arrest. Many restrictions on purchase and use still apply. Even if marijuana is legal in California, marijuana remains a “Schedule 1” drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act; (drugs that have “no currently accepted medical use”). Attorney Panda Kroll’s presentation will focus on how California’s marijuana law impacts Ventura County employers and employees, as well as proposed “Bud and Breakfasts.” |

Kirstie is an assistant professor of communication at California Lutheran University and teaches courses in media writing and editing and serves as the faculty adviser to Cal Lutheran’s student newspaper, The Echo. |
