Seattle Rotary Online is a significant marketing opportunity that is available to organizations that wish to help co-sponsor it. Intended as a library where you can just pull a speaker’s presentation off the shelf, Seattle Rotary Online has been sponsored by First Choice Health CEO, Ken Hamm. Ken is willing to share the financial load (and public awareness!) with companies or other organizations that wish broader awareness within the club or community.
Sponsorships are available for as little as $500. Please contact Seattle 4 Rotarian, David Endicott by email or at 206-409-3275.
Pros and Cons of Proposition 1
October 19th at Noon
Sheraton - 1400 6th Ave
The measure on the November ballot that will likely have the greatest impact on your bottom line is Sound Transit 3. It’s also known as Proposition 1 on the ballots in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties.
Learn the pros and cons of this $54 Billion measure that would add 62 more miles of light rail and 37 more stations. It would expand Sounder Train service and add Bus Rapid Transit for Highway 522 and Interstate 405, along with more park-and-ride lots.
Save the date for our October 26th program
Inequity in our community with King County Executive, Dow Constantine and Tony Mestres, President & CEO of the Seattle Foundation. This program will be moderated by Maud Daudon, President & CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. If you have any questions for this panel, please email them to Lisa Mayfield at lisa@agingwisdom.com by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19.
If jam-packed, wide-ranging programs are your cup of tea, the Columbus Day program of 2016 might stand out for you. Rotarians were treated to the Governor, the Police Chief, and a rising literary figure from Ghana – and completed a service project – all in one hour.
The 2016 Rotary Nominating Committee will be meeting next week to consider nominees for the incoming Rotary Club of Seattle Board of Directors and Seattle Rotary Service Foundation Board of Trustees positions.
We welcome your suggestions of members you believe to be strong candidates for consideration. Please send your input to sue@ardent-sage.com by end of day Tuesday October 18.
revisions to the ByLaws - Vote on October 26
On September 29, 2016, the Bylaws of the Rotary Club of Seattle were amended by a supermajority (2/3) vote of the Club’s Board of Directors.
Examples of material changes to the Bylaws are:
Allows for an officer or board member to fill a partial term followed by a full term.
Changes the size of the board of directors from a set number to a range of 15-25.
Allows for board action by unanimous written consent, and to hold meetings by telephone conference.
Allows for special meetings by both Club members and the board.
The amended Bylaws require that members of the Seattle Rotary Club vote on the amended Bylaws at a regular Club meeting. This vote will occur during our lunch meeting on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
You can access the amended Bylaws by logging into Club Runner and clicking on “My Club Runner (in Admin)” and then “View Club Documents.” Or, click here for the pdf.
Changes to Attendance Policy
In April 2016, Rotary International Counsel on Legislation passed that Rotary Clubs may relax their attendance requirements. On August 25, 2016 the Board of Directors for Seattle Rotary adopted this policy. Going forward, attendance at our regular Rotary lunch meetings will still be captured and reported to the District 5030 Secretary.
What does this mean to you?
If you are a Committee Chair or organizer of a Service Project / Fellowship Event, you are not expected to report attendance to the Rotary Office.
If you like to show consistency for 100% attendance and you miss a Seattle Rotary lunch, you should self-report your make up at www.seattlerotary.org (on the homepage under"Meeting Information")
