Pablo Picasso once said that “Action is the foundational key to all success.” And I’m here today to introduce a man of action and our newest young Rotarian, Elijah Funk, classification Insurance.

Many of you may have already met or heard from Eli, as he’s gotten involved quite quickly with our club these past three months through not only the Young Rotary Leaders, but with the Program Committee, as well.  We have his girlfriend, Caroline, to thank for all of this, as it was from her aunt, Sue McNab, that he learned about us.

Eli works for Willis Towers Watson, one of the leading global advisory, brokerage, and solutions companies that helps clients around the world turn risk into a path for growth. As he puts it, “they’re insurance for insurance.” With their design to deliver solutions that manage risk, optimize benefits, cultivate talent, and expand the power of capital to protect and strengthen institutions and individuals, there seems to be a lot of overlapping ideals, values, and opportunities that he will be able to provide to Rotary. Willis Towers Watson focuses on teamwork, integrity, respect, and excellence – all things that we look for in Rotarians. So, we know we have a great match! As we always say, “Together, we unlock potential.” And with Eli, I believe we are one step closer to doing just that.

This Los Angeles native has always loved to travel, starting in college when he moved to Indiana to attend Indiana University Bloomington and get his finance degree. While he moved back to LA, he found his way up to Seattle about two and a half years ago and has been loving the Pacific Northwest, especially our outdoors. From camping in the summer to snowboarding in the winter, you can find him out being active! And prior to COVID, he would be traveling about for work to places like Chicago, New York, India, Bermuda, Baltimore, and more!

He’s looking to make some wonderful connections here and I know all of you in my many tiles can’t wait to meet him in person.  I know he’ll make time for you during his quarantining, which he says currently consists of a lot of running, home workouts, and kayaking.

A special thank you to his proposer, Beth Knox, and congratulations to Eli.  Welcome to the family!
