If the name Bobanick sounds familiar, there’s a reason.  David Bobanick was raised in a Pennsylvania Appalachian coal town named Curwensville, then population 1,100.  He says he lived there for 17 long years.  He graduated from Penn State in Communications and went to Australia with the  United States Information Agency.  He assures me it was not a cover for the CIA.  He moved to Seattle and worked at the Goodwill Arts Festival, which coincided with the 1990 Goodwill Games.  His venue was the Moscow: Treasures and Traditions exhibit.
Later he was working a catering gig at the King Street Station.  David says he was single, but not a player. He tended to get tongue-tied around attractive ladies.  He noticed a woman a block away who captured his immediate interest and followed her with his eyes until she was standing next to him in the doorway, also there to work the gig.  He immediately noticed a ring on her finger and assumed she was married.  He says because of that, he had no problem talking to and befriending this very attractive lady.  Later he learned she was not married and the next time he saw Caroline he asked her out.  That’s how our own Caroline happens to have the same last name as David!

David volunteered his way into his next career.  He went to volunteer at the Cherry Street Food Bank. There he served a little old lady who reminded him of his grandmother from Curwensville.  He was hooked and has had an absorbing career in feeding the hungry ever since.  His classification is Human and Community Services.  Starting out employed at Northwest Harvest, then he migrated to Harvest Against Hunger (formerly Rotary First Harvest). David serves as the Executive Director overseeing the work of connecting farmers, truckers, volunteers, food banks, and more to reduce hunger and food waste.   In addition to his involvement with Rotary at work, he has been an active Rotarian.  He served as President of Mercer Island Rotary, and as a district trainer for District 5030.  In Rotary International, he currently serves as the Rotary Public Image Coordinator for Zone 27 which includes cities from Vancouver to Colorado.  David and Caroline live in Three Tree Point and have a son, Ethan, 20, who is following his father in communications.
