Harvest Against Hunger is looking for volunteers to help in harvesting thousands of pounds of apples from Ringsrud orchard in Cashmere, WA on Saturday, October 19th.  Our friends at Upper Valley M.E.N.D. contacted Rotary First Harvest to help them rescue fruit from several acres of beautiful apple trees that were not picked due to market conditions.  Last year volunteers gleaned 20,000 pounds of apples. The orchardists estimate that this year, there may be as much as 35,000 pounds of apples available.

The glean is scheduled for 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and at least 30 volunteers are needed to get the job done. Harvest Against Hunger is partnering with local apple warehouses and our friends at Northwest Harvest to get picking bags, ladders and bins for our volunteers, but ask that you plan to bring gloves, a water bottle, snacks and weather-appropriate clothing.
