Al Strand (son of Arnie Strand) spoke about the Wall of Honor located at Pop Keeney Field in downtown Bothell. The Wall of Honor is not a wall of fame. The names on the Wall are ordinary members of the community that gave back to their community in an extraordinary way.
This year's 10 inductees will be inducted on August 13 at Pop Keeney Field. Candidates must be graduated from a Northshore School and bee out for 15 years or more, or a teacher/custodian and retired for 5 or more years, or a volunteer and not working in the District for 15 or more years. A selection committee reviews the applicants and makes their selection each year of the 10 best applicants. The application forms can be found on the NSSD.org website under Community.
With the kindness, generosity and support of Foundation House, there is brunch each April as a fund raiser which is used for scholarships.
Joining us today was Dennis Maughan from EvergreenHealth Foundation. Dennis moved here recently from the Tri-Cities area and is a former Rotarian.
Reminder that Kenmore City Council is make a proclamation honoring Chip Davidson on Monday, July 27th at 7pm. Joan and family will be there.
Gary shared letters from various student recipients thanking us for this year's scholarships.
There are 2 aspects to next weeks's fireside:
- In the late morning teams will go around and pick up backpacks and supplies for Northshore School District students. Talk with Gary Anderson or Leigh Readdy about forming a team or joining one.
- In the evening there is Music In The Park at St Edwards Park. The music starts around 6pm, so come early, share a blanket, share some dinner (pot luck sort of thing), then enjoy the Music. The music will be provided The Lowest Pair (old time) and The Downtown Mountain Boys (bluegrass).
Tom Broetje was asked what kind of speakers if he looking for. He replied inspirational, marketing, political (with care), you name it and he'll probably take it.
