Wayne Ottum was our speaker.  He is a consultant dealing with personality types, communication, and being a leader.  He is the District Chief of Staff and a former assistant governor.

Wayne says the ability to be a good leader/manager is recognizing the unique gifts each of us have and align the specific job complemented by those gifts.  The same is true for volunteer service.  Work on the tasks you are good at, and avoid those you don’t like or are no good at.

Someone once said that you lead people, you manage things.  The key is determining the unique gifts that each of us have, and then using those gifts to complete a task.
One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is recognizing situations or projects that are not suited for you, and saying “No”.  That gift proceeds a future gift of letting it go.  Both gifts are freeing and motivating at the same time.
Joining us was Kermit Checker from Iowa City, IA.
Reporting on our newest retiree, Brad slept in on Monday and he is enjoying not going in to the office.

We need a new Santa suit.  Anyone have a connection or lead as to where we can get one?

Remember, next week is our monthly fireside.  It will be at Nancy Pipinich’s home in Bothell.  You should have received the address.  Go east from Bothell to Woodinville.  At the new light just before getting onto the freeway turn right.  Follow the road to the right.  Their home is one the Sammamish River.

Aug 25th the District is having a fireside at the Bellevue Brewery.  All are invited.

Gary and NW Trophy are having an after-hours event at their shop with the Chamber.  We are invited.

Road cleanup is coming in late September or early October.

Brad collected Happy $.
Gary Anderson won the draw but no luck fining the marble.

There will be no noon meeting on Aug 27th.  Instead we will have a Fireside at Nancy Pipinich's home in Bothell.  You should have already received directions.  If not, please give Gary Anderson or Pete Berard a call.
