Joining us today was Sam Myoda - Seattle 4.

Brad Mott reported the he has temporarily set end of January for a hands-on work party for Rotary 1st Harvest.  He also reported that he made contact with the teacher at Canyon Creek Elementary regarding fixing the equipment.  Gary Jang, Pete Berard & Brad will personally inspect the work that needs doing early next week, and may try to get a work party for later in the week to start the process before the night of the auction.

Santa Breakfast is Saturday, December 13th.  All hands are needed, including spouse or significant other, children, friends, etc.  All are welcome.

Leigh Readdy and Gary Jang attended the Distriction Grant meeting this past week.  Attendance at this meeting plus the percentage of members contributing to the Foundation can determine the percentage of matching funds by the District.

Auction is fast approaching.  We still need lots of items, but it is also time to turn in lists of people attending.  Attendee lists must be complete by Tuesday, Oct 28th, so that labels, etc. can be run and stuffed on Thursday.  The annual stuffing event will be at John Buller's home.  Address and directions to follow later.

Tom Broetje did a marvelous job of extraction sevices.

Cheryl introduced Manny O'Campo from the bothellwins.org, supporters for the upcoming vote on November 4.

Many years ago Bothell set out on plan for redeveloping the City.  An overall vision and plan was established for the downtown area and the remainder of the City including parks and recreational areas.  The initial costs for developing Pop Keeney Field complex, moving the highway, and beginning phases of the downtown corridor were done thru City funds and matching grants with no new taxes.  Parks and public recreational spaces were always planned to have public support through bond or tax issues.

There are 3 areas of funding this tax issue: destination parks, community recreation, and public spaces.

Destination parks includes expansion of Bothell Landing and bringing back live summer concerts, brand new park in Snohomish County, and a off-leash area.

Community Recreation includes installation synthetic turf on North Creek Field #3, improvements to East Norway Hill park (behind Northshore Junior High), new dog park, and acquisition and development of North Creek Forest (northwest corner exiting at Beardsly.

Public Spaces is for enhancing and expanding Main Street and finishing the multiway boulevard.

Cost of the projects is $9.68 per month based on a $300,000 assessed value home, or $116.16 a year.  The levy is for a maximum of 25 years.  This tax assessment will allow the projects to be completed on a quicker basis rather than waiting for 15 - 20 year.  It will complete the infrastructure needed to attract business and customers into the corridor and Main Street areas.

Opposition is  focused mainly on the high percentage devoted to roads.

Public vote is November 4th.
