Announcements:

Board of Directors Briefs – September 13, 2016
 
It was confirmed that future Board of Directors meetings will be held the 2nd THURSDAY of each month at 4:30 instead of Tuesdays.  The next meeting will be October 13, 2016.
 
Treasurer John Holtzheimer reported that there are still 32 members who have not paid their 7/1/2016 dues.  A second billing has been sent out.  Reminder that Dues are Due!  The club has already had to pay your dues portion to Rotary International and the District.
 
A letter of resignation was accepted with great regret from Past President Herb Ershig due to attendance conflicts.  He will be missed!!
 
A request has been made from the Sunrise Rotary Club regarding their Tijuana Project to support their International Project with the Tijuana Rotary Club. They visit and donate to  Escuela  Primaria "Mi Patria es Primero"  or  " My Country is First" Elementary school.  Typically dropping off a couple thousand dollars’ worth of school supplies.  The Board approved a $1,000 donation
 
This coming Monday, September 26, is our next Blood Draw.  It will take place prior to and after the regular RCOB lunch meeting.  Contact John Moffett or Steve Ban to sign up immediately, if not sooner.
 
John Griggs and Peter Theisen announced solicitation and sponsorship for our next major project.  The designated organization must be a non-profit.  The deadline for submissions is November 15.
 
We were reminded that “Vegas Night,” our major fund raising event, is scheduled for Saturday February 11th, 2017 at the Mt. Baker Theater.  More details to come.
 
The next board meeting will be on Thursday, October 13.
 
Guests of Rotarians:  None today - remember to bring guests and the first visit is paid by the club!

Rich Bowers received his Membership Certificate under the classification of “Community Service - Land Preservation”.
 
 
Program: 
Kendall Olson, President of the new Whatcom County Rotoract Club, shared details about their organization.  Rotoract stands for “Rotary in Action” and is a worldwide organization.    It encourages leadership and community service for those between ages 18 and 30.  The local Interact club, which is part of District 5050, is both community and university based.  It was formed in 2015, is co-sponsored by all five local Rotary clubs and currently has eight members.  They meet Tuesdays at 7 PM at Woods Coffee Boulevard.  Guests are welcome to attend!
