Discussion Topic Monday-- Monday, October 6, will be the kick-off of "Discussion Topic Monday" at the Rotary Club of Bellingham. The topic for lunch table discussion on October 6 is "Everything Sports Related."
Football Pool-- Starting Monday, September 29, members of the Football Pool will greet, cajole, suggest, ask, and/or in some other way urge each Club member to purchase a "square." The cost of a Football Pool square is $40.00. Be prepared.
Stimpson Nature Reserve Trailhead Work Party - The Environment Committee, chaired by Tim Fisher and Scott Walker and asking that you save the date of November 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 for a work party to plant vegetation and install a kiosk sign at the Stimpson Trailhead parking lot. Further information will follow.

Sergeant-at-Arms Nancy Jordan had three topics for the group to respond. Fines were levied for taking cell phone selfies, travel in and outside the USA and knowledge about “apple head Chihuahuas”.
Program: RCOB Foundation
Don Anderson, President of the RCOB Foundation was introduced by Byron Manering. Don shared that our foundation began in 1998 and achieved 501 (3)(c) status as a non-profit. Since its inception the foundation has raised $2,491,312 and distributed $1,615,777 in grants. The Foundation has supported major projects local community and international projects totaling $1,097,862, and a number of smaller projects totaling $310,614. The Foundation has also awarded numerous scholarships totaling $217,300.
Dennis Williams and Katherine Deets provided an overview of the elements of planned giving, including the to tax implications for federal and state taxes. Dennis reviewed lifetime giving (while living) and Katherine reviewed testamentary giving (after death). If club members would like detailed information about how to make these types of planned gifts, they are encouraged to contact Dennis or Katherine for more information.
