PATH – Seattle’s Best Kept Secret in Global Health

Overview: PATH is an international nonprofit, global health organization that transforms global health through innovation.   PATH’s approach blends the entrepreneurial spirit of business, the scientific expertise of a research institution, and the passion and on-the-ground experience of an international NGO.   PATH was founded in Ballard nearly 40 years ago and now has a $350 Million annual budget. Much of what you hear about the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation doing in global health, they do through PATH. Yet few people know about this hometown hero. This program will provide an overview of PATH with a focus on its work in water & sanitation, something Rotary has also been deeply involved in around the world.

Introduction:  Jesse Schubert is a Senior Program Associate in PATH’s Technology Solutions Global Program. For the past 10 years, he has worked in PATH’s product development shop, leading and supporting the technical aspects of a variety of projects, including PATH’s woman’s condom, SILCS diaphragm, and low-cost water treatment and hand washing technologies. Jesse’s favorite part of his job is traveling to the field to connect with and learn from the people that will ultimately use the products PATH develops.

Jesse will be accompanied by Jenny Andrews, a fellow Rotarian and the Relationship manager for Global Engagement at PATH.
